The ALN scholarship selection committee is delighted to announce the awards to be made for the academic year 2010-2011. Four hundred and eighty applications from a total of 26 African countries were received and, after a lengthy selection procedure, the following five applicants were successful:
Alex Wanyama Barasa, MSc Clinical Tropical Medicine, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki
Abdoulbaki Ibrahim Diallo, MSc, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Limangen Alex Mankhambo, MSc, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Metse Nancy Phaswana-Mafuya, MSc by Distance Learning, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Koudmanégré Augustin Zoungrana, MSc Clinical Tropical Medicine, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki
Professor Geoffrey Targett, Chair, ALN Selection Committee said:
“The selection committee had a very difficult task as there were many excellent applicants who would have benefitted from being able to take one of the MSc courses at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki, or the London-based or Distance Learning courses of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. There is clearly a large unmet need for MSc training and we are delighted to be able to support five very worthy candidates.“
